Blue Flag is an international environmental management programme operated by FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), a non profit organization founded in 1985 in France which now is synonymous of high quality in implementing sustainable actions. Blue Flag looks for excellency in four areas: I. Information and environmental education; II. Water quality; III. Environmental management; and IV. Security and services. Blue Flag is supported by World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and for the Environment Programme of the United Nations (UNEP).
